Hot car deal: classy Volkswagen Golf for £139 a month

Our hot car deal for February 7th is the Volkswagen Golf family favourite for just £139 a month

Volkswagen Golf hatchback

The eighth-generation Golf remains a worthy family car option, offering classy looks and decent practicality, while also being good to drive. Strong petrol and diesel engines are a mainstay of the range, while frugal hybrid tech is available, too, offering improved economy and efficiency. Still as comfortable as ever and a pleasant place in which to spend time, the Golf continues delivering on its reputation for being safe and reliable, with a host of active safety features as standard.

What’s so good about this VW Golf deal?

This deal from Central Vehicle Leasing lets you cover up to 5,000 miles a year with an initial payment of £3,000.00, then monthly payments of £139.19 over two years. If you need more flexibility on overall mileage, you can extend the allowance for an extra charge; 10,000 miles per year will increase monthly instalments to £157.19, with the deposit amount unchanged.

The Life specification represents the entry point to Golf ownership, but it still comes with a decent amount of standard equipment. Features include 16-inch alloys, LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, a leather-trimmed multi-function steering wheel and VW’s 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro set-up, along with the Discover Media sat-nav system.

Featuring a 130bhp 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine with a six-speed manual gearbox, this particular Golf is capable of reaching 62mph from a standstill in 9.2 seconds, while Volkswagen claims an overall fuel economy figure of more than 52mpg.

What’s so good about the VW Golf?

The VW Golf offers understated, classy looks while providing just enough day-to-day practicality to be considered a decent family car. It’s easy to drive and comfortable either around town or on the motorway. However, a couple of niggles we’ve always had with the latest generation model are the touch-sensitive slide controls for the audio system and air-conditioning, along with a noticeable drop in perceived cabin quality – so make sure you arrange a test drive to check you’re happy before doing the deal.

Anything else I need to know about this deal?

This is a lease deal, often referred to as Personal Contract Hire (PCH), so there’s no option to buy the car at the end of the contract. You are effectively renting the car for the two-year term, but the deal is very flexible so you can adjust the term length, mileage limit and initial payment size to suit, but only at the outset. Once the deal is over, you just hand the keys back and start looking for your next car.

Our hot deals are carefully selected by our car buying experts and they are all subject to change. Always read the full terms and conditions and make sure the car and the deal suits your needs before proceeding.
