Hot car deal: retro-cool Volkswagen ID. Buzz for a competitive £441 per month

A head-turning, all-electric MPV that offers huge practicality: our hot deal for January 16th is the Volkswagen ID. Buzz for £441 per month

2022 Volkswagen ID. Buzz tracking

Family car buyers on the lookout for a super stylish EV will find it hard not to be attracted to the retro charm of the Volkswagen ID. Buzz. The five-seat MPV isn’t all form over function, however, with a usable electric range and an enormous, squared-off boot that puts other battery-powered SUV rivals to shame. Throw its sliding doors and fantastic passenger space into the mix, along with a funky interior design and plenty of onboard technology, and it’s clear to see why the ID. Buzz is so hugely desirable.

Taking obvious inspiration from Volkswagen’s iconic Type 2 microbus from the 1950s and 60s, the ID. Buzz features a conventional seat layout with two captain’s chairs up front and a three-seat bench across the rear. VW has used light-coloured materials for the interior fit and finish, giving it the feel of a Type 2 bus, but with a more upmarket quality and user-friendly character.

Good to drive on the motorway and at higher speeds, we actually found the Buzz’s light steering and low-speed manoeuvrability a real plus-point, while its high driving position and superb 11.1-metre turning circle mean that the funky-looking EV is a doddle to drive around town.

This particular ID. Buzz model comes in generous Style trim, and includes 20-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a power tailgate, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control and a 10-inch touchscreen with integrated sat-nav.

With a 201bhp electric motor driving the rear wheels, you might expect the ID. Buzz to be slightly quicker than it actually is. 0-62mph takes 10.2 seconds, while its top speed is 90mph, although VW claims you should see around 250 miles from a full charge on a mixture of roads.

What’s so good about the VW ID. Buzz?

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz is a practical, comfortable family car that offers plenty of character. It’s a real do-it-all vehicle that will be at home covering a variety of tasks. One downside is that it’s quite expensive to buy, which makes this lease deal opportunity even more enticing.

Anything else I need to know about this deal?

This is a lease deal, often referred to as Personal Contract Hire (PCH), so there’s no option to buy the car at the end of the contract. You are effectively renting the car for the two-year term, but the deal is very flexible so you can adjust the term length, mileage limit and initial payment size to suit but only at the outset. Once the deal is over, you just hand the keys back and start looking for your next car.

Our hot deals are carefully selected by our car buying experts and they are all subject to change. Always read the full terms and conditions and make sure the car and the deal suits your needs before proceeding.
