Hot car deal: stylish Volvo XC40 mild-hybrid for £275 a month
Plenty of Scandi cool with our hot car deal for January 19th; the Volvo XC40 compact SUV for £275 a month
The Volvo XC40 is a great small SUV that stands out from rivals with its eye-catching, minimalist design. It’s essentially a scaled down version of its super successful XC60 and XC90 siblings, with the Swedish manufacturer creating a more affordable – but equally as desirable – five-seat compact SUV. It may be the cheaper option in Volvo’s model lineup, but you’ll notice the excellent build quality from the moment you climb aboard, as well as Volvo’s clever portrait touchscreen infotainment system that takes centre stage in the cabin. Out on the road, the XC40 is comfortable and refined and, of course, there’s an impressive amount of safety technology as standard.
What’s so good about this Volvo XC40 deal?
This deal from Nationwide Vehicle Contracts lets you cover up to 5,000 miles a year with an initial payment of £3,306.48, then monthly payments of £275.54 across a four-year term. Nudging the agreed mileage allowance up to 8,000 miles per year means you’d pay an extra £20.34 every month. But whatever arrangement you decide to go for you’ll also need to factor in a processing fee of £270.

Offered in entry Core specification, this particular XC40 model still benefits from a generous level of standard equipment, including 18-inch alloys, LED headlights, a powered tailgate, a rear parking camera, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats and wireless smartphone charging.
Power comes from the XC40’s 2.0-litre, B3-badged mild-hybrid petrol, delivering 161bhp and 305Nm of torque via a seven-speed automatic transmission. 0-62mph takes 8.2 seconds, while Volvo claims you should expect average fuel economy of 42.8mpg.
What’s so good about the Volvo XC40?
If you’re after a small SUV that offers a true premium feel, then the Volvo XC40 is definitely worth considering. It’s not a revelation on the road, but the B3’s 2.0-litre petrol engine is smooth and refined, while comfort and cruising refinement are also plus points. For a small car the XC40 offers huge kerb appeal, and is easily one of the most accomplished compact SUVs on the market.

Anything else I need to know about this deal?
This is a lease deal, often referred to as Personal Contract Hire (PCH), so there’s no option to buy the car at the end of the contract. You are effectively renting the car for the two-year term, but the deal is very flexible so you can adjust the term length, mileage limit and initial payment size to suit, but only at the outset. Once the deal is over, you just hand the keys back and start looking for your next car.
Our hot deals are carefully selected by our car buying experts and they are all subject to change. Always read the full terms and conditions and make sure the car and the deal suits your needs before proceeding.
