New Alfa Romeo electric SUV flagship inbound
Alfa Romeo’s all-electric SUV flagship model will sit above the Stelvio, and here’s what it could look like
- Range-topping electric SUV
- Coming in the second half of the decade
- Potential for a seven-seat version
Alfa Romeo is set to launch a flagship all-electric SUV, sitting above the Stelvio in its lineup and expected in the second half of the decade.
The electric SUV will rival the likes of the Audi Q8 e-tron, Mercedes EQS and BMW iX and will arrive alongside an all-electric replacement for the smaller Alfa Romeo Giulia saloon. Our exclusive renders show what the Alfa Romeo electric SUV could look like.
Despite its status as a large SUV, the Italian marque’s sleek styling is in full effect, with thin aggressive LED headlights leading gracefully down to the trademark ‘Scudetto’ grille – Italian for ‘little shield’.
The design tapers off towards the rear for a slightly more coupe-like silhouette which would help with the car’s aerodynamic efficiency and improve electric range. It’s a similar roofline to models including the Polestar 3 SUV.

The new Alfa Romeo flagship SUV is expected to sit on parent company Stellantis’ STLA Large vehicle platform which it will share with the electric Giulia saloon car. The brand says this platform will be combined with chassis setups that will make both the saloon and SUV fun to drive.
This platform allows for large battery sizes of up to 118kWh, and Alfa Romeo has said the saloon car will aim for a range of up to 435 miles on a single charge – we can expect a range of closer to 400 miles for the Alfa Romeo SUV given its increased size and weight.
Base models are likely to come with a power figure of around 350bhp, while a mid-range Veloce trim could get a figure closer to 800bhp if the saloon car’s anticipated power options are anything to go by. The saloon could be getting a hot 1,000bhp, triple-motor Quadrifoglio variant, but it’s unclear whether the electric SUV will get the same treatment.
Charging speeds are expected to be impressive, too – the brand says 800-volt charging technology means charging to 80% should take around 18 minutes.
The production model of Alfa Romeo’s large electric SUV isn’t expected for at least four years, but we’d expect it to cost around £100,000, and there’s rumours the large SUV could be offered with seven seats to help differentiate it from smaller SUVs in the brand’s lineup.
