Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV - Reliability & safety
Competing against rivals with very strong reputations, the Stelvio has its work cut out
Alfa Romeo is working hard to establish itself as a respected, premium brand, and in doing so it places great importance on the expectations of its customers. With a modern design and the latest technology, the Stelvio is very safe, with an excellent crash-test rating.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio reliability
Alfa Romeo performed well in our 2020 Driver Power survey, finishing ninth overall out of 30 brands surveyed, however, it didn’t appear in the most recent results. Owners told us they love the way their cars look and drive, but reliability seems to be a weakness – some 28.6% of Alfa owners reported at least one fault within the first year of ownership.
Safety
The Stelvio did very well in Euro NCAP crash tests with a five-star rating, performing "exceptionally well" for adult occupant protection, with a score of 97%.
Good scores were also awarded for the electronic safety technology fitted, and all models have blind-spot warning, forward collision warning and active cruise control either fitted as standard or available as options. The Driver Assistance Pack is worth considering, as it brings Traffic Jam Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Intelligent Speed Control and features like Lane Keep Assist and traffic-sign recognition, which might not make a big different to low-mileage owners, but will pay dividends if you often take longer trips or regularly drive on the motorway.
