The Q5 is a really good overall car with only a few issues: The non-retractable central information display. Completely senseless and clearly a cost saving for Audi that detracts from the nicely designed dashboard area. The front metallic grille stains easily, even with soap from car washes. Door glazing surrounds are roughly finished on edges, noticeable when closing doors using a hand (as opposed to a door handle). No reversible boot mat available for a car that costs 47K - Audi boot liners are rubbish and expensive for a piece of cheap moulded plastic that you have to form the cut outs yourself in order to access the retaining points located on the boot floor. Reverse gear is painfully slow to react when doing a 2/3 point manoeuvre - could be dangerous at times. The noise from the ABS 'self testing' system (a well-known Audi issue) is painful and detracts from the overall quality of the car. Really poor mpg, nowhere near Audi's figures - long distance touring at around 50-60mph achieved around 37mpg.

Sadly we have had to sell this new car after just 2 months! This expensive £35,000 Audi Q5 has very hard suspension and a jittery ride over British potholed roads. You feel every poor surface in a sickly way. The front seats have plastic supports that catch your legs when getting in or out. There is no lumbar support adjustment. The seat height and reach have to be manually adjusted unlike other cars of a similar price with electric switches. Opening the car requires pressing the key fob rather than modern keyless systems, touching the handle. The powered boot opens from the key fob but will not close from the key fob. Storage space is very limited with no seat back racks for magazines etc. The boot space is also limited with no side wall nets. You would hope for space under the boot floor, but this is taken up by a preformed polyurethane moulding containing a large speaker and tiny storage pockets for tools. There is no spare tyre and a liquid self repair kit for minor punctures. Anything more and you are stranded by the motorway! There are no darkened privacy windows in the rear to hide your valuables. The software controls are quirky and trying to sort things out from the 157 page manual is confusing as it covers all the different models. While you drive it is impossible and dangerous to use the large control know for different programmes. The large display screen is not a touch screen. No spare batteries came with log book for the key fob. When you try to find out which type to buy, the instructions tell you to fit the same ones found in the key fob! The key fob was so tight we had to return to an Audi dealership where they struggled to open the key. The satellite navigation system would not adjust during a drive when we decided on a different route. It insisted on using the original set route! The only positive things are that the Q5 drives well, is quiet and has good acceleration. However we cannot recommend it.

Great car all round, feels like a Bentley. It's quiet, smooth and has fantastic power when you want it with acceptable economy. It'll be replaced with another of the same when I come to change. It's hard to fault anything about it. I love it.

Lovely car. Big, comfortable and smooth. I opted for the Sport trim over the S Line as I didn’t feel the extra £1000s justified the body kit. The Sport comes with 10-inch central MMI screen with internal memory and DVD player. It also has the 12” TFT Virtual Cockpit. There are plenty of luxury items inside, leather heated front seats with electric lumbar support. The touch pad for sat nav destinations is excellent and can be used whilst driving as you don’t have to take your eyes off the road to operate it. The car is quick for a heavy beast. Downsides are fuel economy; Audi says it will do 40mpg but I’ve never achieved this although I did buy the petrol version as I wanted the performance so mpg wasn’t a concern when purchasing. I would have expected fully electric front seats and a reversing camera given the list price of this vehicle but other than that I am very happy. It is a luxurious, smooth vehicle and after 2 years I have had no problems with the car and would definitely have another.
