Hot car deal: BMW i5 is a £74k executive EV for just £443 a month
Our hot car deal for June 13th is certainly pricey, but the BMW i5 is a lot of car for the money
The BMW 5 Series has long been the default option for executive car buyers who want something premium and sporty, but the electric BMW i5 now exists as a tempting emissions-free alternative. Swapping internal combustion for electrification hasn’t resulted in any major compromises, as the i5 gets the same luxurious cabin and refined driving experience as its petrol counterpart.
The only drawback is the price; the i5 costs a fair chunk more than the petrol 5 Series if you choose to buy in cash. Opt to lease with today’s hot car deal, however, and that’s no longer an issue. In fact, this BMW i5 deal will cost you less than most petrol 5 Series offers out there.
What’s so good about this BMW i5 deal?
Expensive electric cars often only make financial sense for business drivers, with the UK’s Benefit-in-Kind tax system favouring zero-emission vehicles. However, this deal from VIP Gateway could be the most affordable way for private buyers to get behind the wheel of Munich’s latest electric executive express, with monthly payments of £442.59. Sure, that’s a lot of money to hand over every month, but a quick online search will reveal that most BMW i5 deals are currently sitting north of £600 a month, making this deal look like a relative bargain.
The deal runs for two years, and requires a fairly chunky upfront payment of £5,311.02. If you’d rather spread that cost out over the course of the deal, you can opt to increase the monthly payments, instead. Similarly, if the annual 5000-mile limit sounds too restrictive, you can increase the allowance by upping the upfront and monthly payments.
That £442.59 a month figure is put into context when you consider that the BMW i5 eDrive40 in this deal has a list price of over £74,000. An equivalently priced Mercedes EQE will cost you a whole lot more per month, and we think the BMW is the better of the two in practically every way. The M Sport model in this deal comes with all the equipment that an executive could possibly want, from the vast curved pair of interior displays to the four-wheel steering system.
What’s so good about the BMW i5?
The BMW i5 is one of the finest executive cars on sale today, electric or otherwise. It’s BMW’s first electric 5 Series, but you wouldn’t know it from behind the wheel; it’s a polished and accomplished saloon that lives up to the iconic ‘5’ badge. With 335bhp and a 0-62mph time of six seconds, there are other electric cars that outperform it on paper, but the i5 is plenty quick enough in the real world. Importantly, its maximum range of up to 362 miles will be enough for all but the longest of motorway missions, and its premium cabin is one of the best in the business.
