Very disappointed with the OS 8 digital dashboard. Compared with non-digital dashboards, this does not give the information a driver wants at hand and can be very distracting whilst driving, trying to adjust or change any settings, especially navigation. I do not find the audio control works very well and the quality of navigation screens is poor compared with previous versions. The vehicle drives and handles well, but digital screen dashboard makes life difficult. While I don’t expect BMW to go backwards on quality, this now has in terms of driver satisfaction.
What's the one thing you like most about your car?
It drives and handles as well, but of course is larger now than previous ones. I have had two previous X1’s which were a good size and did what was required. Why does a new model always become bigger? I have owned BMWs for my last 5 vehicles all have been good until this OS 8 dashboard version.
If you could improve one thing, what would it be?
Digital dashboard is very poor, screen information far too small in some areas making it difficult to read. Not what is expected from BMW. Here's hoping being digital they can upgrade it before long. Had I realised how complicated it was may have looked elsewhere for this vehicle change.

Pleased with the car and performance/handling etc
Very disappointed with centre console arrangement - very obstructive and awkward to store bits and pieces, so I don't think it's well thought out at all. The 8.0 iDrive software is too distracting whilst driving.
What's the one thing you like most about your car?
Drives well, PHEV seems very economical with low BIK for company drivers.
If you could improve one thing, what would it be?
Dump the digital dash in its current form. Eliminate all the non-essential confusing functions and get back to something more driving oriented with a normal speedometer and clear navigation.
Improve the voice control, it is not good enough and can take too long to action a request.
