Cupra Formentor review - Reliability & safety
Lots of shared parts should mean the Cupra Formentor is reliable
The Volkswagen Group isn’t scared to share parts between its brands, and the Cupra Formentor has plenty of components carried over from other cars, meaning everything is tried-and-tested. The Formentor is also fitted with lots of safety features, helping it to score highly in Euro NCAP crash tests.
Cupra Formentor reliability
While Cupra as a brand has not yet appeared in our Driver Power customer satisfaction surveys, parent manufacturer SEAT has. In 2023 the Spanish marque placed in an uninspiring 23rd out of 32 manufacturers; around 21% of owners reported a fault with their car within the first year of ownership, which is around average.
Safety
Despite being the first standalone model from the Cupra brand, the Formentor was awarded a convincing five-star safety score by Euro NCAP. Standard safety features for the Cupra Formentor include autonomous emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist and e-call, which will alert the emergency services if the car is involved in a heavy collision.
Buyers can also opt to fit a 'Safety and Driving Pack XL' to DSG automatic versions, bringing traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, lane change assist and Emergency Assist, which can help control the vehicle in an emergency. Exit Assist also warns occupants of approaching traffic as they go to open a door.
