The Dacia Duster makes every other practical SUV look expensive, and the same is true for the Jogger when compared with other seven-seaters. And yet, the third row of seats can accommodate adults, unlike many MPVs and SUVs that offer a very small pair of seats for occasional use.

Dacia Jogger interior space & storage

Having lots of space is usually an expensive luxury, but that’s not the case with the Dacia Jogger. The front seats are as spacious as you’d expect. The second row is arguably even more impressive, because few (if any) family hatchbacks can match the space on offer. If you sit in these seats you’re afforded plenty of legroom, and the roof is higher for the second row than for the front seats.

That means it’s easy to get in and out, and even a bulky child seat shouldn’t affect the positioning of the front seats. Kids are unlikely to be able to kick the seatbacks in front of them, although that also means that the fold-out picnic trays could be out of reach. The low window line should make it easy to see out, but we wonder if Dacia could have fitted a third ISOFIX point in the middle seat.

Dropping the seats to get to the third row is a simple process, and there’s plenty of space back there once you’re in. Your feet have room under the seats in front of you and there’s enough headroom. The third row of seats also gets integrated armrests, a cup holder, a 12V socket to charge devices and pop-out windows. We found the gap to access the rear seats a little narrow, and that would have been improved if the Jogger got the sliding rear bench you get in a Renault Captur. It’s not really an issue, though, especially as including it would’ve increased the price.

Living up to its MPV billing, the Jogger also offers up to 23 litres of storage space throughout the cabin.

Boot space

With all seats in place, the Jogger offers 212 litres of boot space, which is about the same as you’d get in a city car. It’s fine for some shopping or soft bags, and we expect most buyers will keep the third row folded (or removed completely) for the majority of the time. As a five-seater, you get a huge 712 litres of space. Fold these down and take out the rear seats and there’s a van-like 1,807 litres of cargo space. Handily, the rearmost seats only weigh 10kg each, so should be fairly easy for most owners to lift in and out when required.

Hybrid models often sacrifice some boot space, but Dacia has managed to fit the battery into the void beneath the boot, so there’s still an impressive 699 litres of boot space with five seats in place. However, this does mean fitting an optional spare wheel isn’t possible, which may be why it offers 2,085 litres with all rear seats stowed.

The tailgate is quite large and bulky, but the opening is around a metre wide. Loading awkward items or big pieces of furniture should prove no problem.

Dacia also includes clever integrated roof rails, which can swivel across the roof to create a roof rack. Once set up, these cross bars can carry up to 80kg, enough for a roof box or a bike rack.

Towing

The Jogger can tow a braked trailer weighing up to 1,200kg, or an unbraked one weighing up to 640kg. One drawback of the Hybrid version is that its braked trailer capacity drops to 750kg, ruling out most caravans and larger trailers.
