EV price drop! Huge £3,000 discount for Peugeot E-2008 and E-208
Significant price cuts of up to £3,000 introduced to Peugeot’s electric models from today
- Peugeot E-208 and E-2008 reduced by £3,000
- Peugeot E-308 and E-308 SW cut by £1,500
- New pricing is in place from today
If you’ve just placed an order for an electric Peugeot, you might want to look away, as the French brand has just introduced major price cuts to some of its most popular EVs. The drastic new pricing strategy sees up to £3,000 slashed from some models, with others receiving a hefty £1,500 discount. It follows the introduction of Peugeot’s new Allure Care warranty, an extended eight-year warranty designed to encourage the uptake of EVs.
The Peugeot E-208 hatchback and E-2008 SUV have received the biggest discounts, dropping their starting prices to £28,600 and £32,700, respectively. As a result, the electric variants are now less than £8,000 more expensive than their petrol counterparts – a much narrower gap compared to the near-£11,000 premium they commanded before. The £1,500 price cut has been applied to the Peugeot E-308 and its estate twin, the Peugeot E-308 SW. These models now start from £38,550 and £39,750.
It’s a move that should help Peugeot to remain competitive in what’s shaping up to be a hotly-contested affordable EV market. Newcomers from China, such as the popular MG4 hatchback, have made zero-emissions driving more accessible to the masses and have claimed some of the market share from traditional European brands. The Peugeot 208’s new domestic rival, the Citroen e-C3, has also launched in the UK with a price tag of just £22,000, further lowering the barrier to entry of electric vehicle ownership.
While the E-208 can’t quite match the Citroen for price, it’s now much closer in line with models such as the Vauxhall Corsa Electric and Fiat 500, both of which start from around £28,000. In the small SUV market, the Peugeot E-2008 now costs less than the entry-level Jeep Avenger and the new Alfa Romeo Junior.
Peugeot isn’t the only manufacturer to drastically cut the prices of some of its electric models; Vauxhall has introduced affordable ‘Yes Edition’ and ‘Griffin Edition’ models for the Corsa Electric and Mokka Electric, while Volkswagen’s reintroduction of the ‘Match’ trim level has lowered the starting price of several of its EVs.
The new Peugeot E-3008 SUV has just hit the market in the UK and hasn’t been treated to any price cuts this time around. Priced from £45,800, it aims to elevate Peugeot towards the premium end of the SUV market, while the seven-seater E-5008 is expected to cost nearer to £50,000 when it launches later this year.
