An update on my previous review as I've nor driven 73,000 miles in this car over just short of 27 months. One fault grounded the car for around 6 weeks while Land Rover did a very thorough job of diagnosing a fault which was then fixed first time. That was 43,000 miles ago, with no recurrence. Apart from that, reliability has been excellent. Service from my local dealer has been excellent and running costs have been perfectly acceptable, given the nature of the car. It's extremely practical, spacious and comfortable with a very nice ride and with the correct choice of tyres is unstoppable in the snow! It is bigger than it looks and the width can be a problem on both country lanes and in car parks; you may be able to get the car into the space, but you might not be able to get out of the car afterwards.

This purchase followed 6 years of Land Rover ownership. I had a nearly new Freelander and then a Discovery, and other than a wiring loom issue with the Freelander (which was fixed under warranty), we didn't have any problems. The Range Rover is however a different experience. We'd only driven 30 miles in our brand new vehicle before the first warning light appeared. The car has since been back to the dealer five times in as many months, with a series of recurring faults, the main being suspension/ride issues. It's beautifully built and unique vehicle, but we will never never buy another Land/Range Rover again

This is my 5th Range Rover so far and probably the last one! The electric differential lock blocks the rear axle all the time in standard mode - even when set on Sport. Land Rover has no plan to solve the problem. My ran out of tread after 6,000KM, and the fuel consumption has suffered from this issue, too. Exhaust fumes get inside the car while the ventilation is on position 'Auto' – the same with auxiliary heating: all the exhaust fumes somehow get into the car. The car was with an official Land Rover dealer last week – they still don't have a plan to solve these problems, although there were tons of electrical issues they mostly solved. Very disappointing car for that much money.

An excellent car, I cannot comment on reliability since I have only owned it for less than a year. However, I can comment on the ride quality which is fantastic. It delivers a very relaxed driving experience and, whilst it is easy to drive, it still handles like the off roader it is. It does benefit from the fantastic driving position Range Rovers are known for. The interior as can be expected is extremely comfortable, the front seat has a back massager - a first for an SUV! However it only has the option for 4 seats! As such if my kids bring a friend over we can't all fit in! The boot is also considerably smaller than the previous model and this is disappointing for such a large car, however there is better leg room in the back which also comes with an entertainment pack. I own land in Wiltshire so this car is used on mild off road tracks which it handles with ease thanks to the Terrain Response system.

I love my range rover, once you,ve owned one it,s hard to drive anything else. Mine is a classic and i get classic car insurance (cheap!). In the bad weather nothing can touch the land rover 4 wheel drive system. I will never sell it, but would like a later model in the future when the prices come down a bit. (range rover sport please!). Fuel consumption is dreadful around town but improves dramatically on a long run, thats why i also own an old vw passat turbo diesel for going to work and running around. (50 mpg versus 15!!!).

This is my eighth Range Rover and the car is a vast improvement over previous versions. The ride is super and so quiet. Good engine response and quick. On long runs we have achieved 35-36mpg and local mixed driving 32-33. The navigation and screen electronics seem to do odd things at random and are nowhere near as good as a BMW I occasionally use which has iDrive. Only problem so far was a power latching tailgate getting jammed which meant we couldn't lock the car and it drained the battery.

My fourth Range Rover and most certainly my last car I'll ever buy from JLR. Shameful quality glitches and dealer can't fix them properly. The Range Rover is a brilliant car, but for me it's ruined by ridiculous ongoing problems with the electrics. No wonder they are at the bottom of the worldwide quality surveys for cars. The position in China for these cars is really shocking with demonstrations outside the main Land Rover HQs in Shanghai and Bejing. My car was brand new in Jan 2019 has had faults since day one !!! *Car delivered with faulty roof rails not fitted correctly and not flush with roof. *Masking tape left on roof after it was painted silver to contrast with the blue bodywork. *Sat nav very glitchy and ongoing problems with 3rd visit to dealers to remedy *front parking sensors usually don't work, dealer visit pending again *front bumper camera works rarely when parking, another dealer visit pending *turn heating fan on and it can take up to 10 mins to start *buttons on steering wheel left side now stopped working *Swindon dealer didn't fix most of the issues 1st or 2nd visits so going again *Swindon dealer supplied loan Jaguar XE with faulty brakes

After driving around 3,000 miles a month for the last eight months, this car is proving to be comfortable, quick, spacious, very nicely finished and best of all, well built and extremely reliable. Tyre and brake disc and pad consumption is very reasonable and even the service costs have been fair. Fuel consumption is a genuine 26, with 28-30 showing on the computer. It's very pleasant to drive, although – with half worn Pirellis – it can tramline a bit. I regret buying the roof rails and bars. While the rails look good, the rails and bars are very costly, badly designed and poorly made. I now treat them as being purely cosmetic and have given up on them; I now tow a trailer instead!

The most awful car I have ever had the displeasure of owning, and I have owned Allegros. The suspension collapsed at 4000 miles, infotainment display packed up shortly after, the windows go down in the middle of the night of their own accord and warning lights on the dash are a regular feature. It's been in the workshop as much as it's been on the road. As for the sat Nav, it doesn't work, it not intuitive, the routes it uses are a joke and the whole thing is a disgrace for a car of this price. Do yourself a massive favour and buy German – I will when this goes back.

Bought just over 12 months old having just sold my superb last 2003 Range Rover with 140k on the clock. The car was very expensive and just would not depreciate! I waited and waited, but in the end bit the bullet and emptied my savings account for this near top of the range model. The silky smooth V8 4.4 out drags my Porsche Boxster and yet easily beats the little Porsche's fuel consumption, returning 35 mpg and just over 40 mpg on a long run. The quality of the finish is superb and the ride quality first class. It's difficult to find a fault in the design, with an impeccable build quality. In over 12 months ownership and 15k miles, I have not experienced a single fault. Before its 3 years old it will have its last main dealer service before I return to my local 4x4 specialist who have serviced my Range Rovers for many years now. There's simply nothing like a Range Rover. There are some very good competitors. In my opinion, the new Volvo comes closest, however the gulf in class between the cheaper "pretenders" such as the Audi Q7 and the Porsche Cayenne has if anything, widened.

I have owned this car for 2 months, so far i have had to call out Land Rover Assist 3 times. Suspension failure twice, car wouldn't start, boot wouldn't open, 'Smart Key' not found whilst driving! Sound system cuts out for false incoming calls. Seat moves whilst driving! For a car of this price, its not good enough. This is my fifth Range Rover and never before have i had problems like this.

Excellent vehicle much improved over its predecessor, well equipped with lots of equipment and good trim. The ride is fine and feels luxurious throughout, companies like Mercedes and BMW have a long way to go. Good dealer who are helpful. Overall probably the best luxury car on the market.

This is my 4th range rover and will be my last. Had range rover assist out as engine went into limp mode with 6 months of ownership. Turned out to be a blocked fuel filter at 10k miles! Idiot tried blaming me I was using cheap fuel. More like land rover use cheap parts. Went in for first service. Told me I had an oil leak needed to rebook car. No courtesy car offered! Engine taken out and seals replaced under warranty. Car returned with warning lights on display. Something to do with car not able to talk to monitor station. Dealer tried to suggest it had nothing to do with them and must have been there already and to wait and it should reset itself. Of course it never did! Booked back in with dealer. Insisted on courtesy car as needed to do school run. Car returned...within 3 days low coolant! Bearing in mind car had just been serviced I was not impressed. Went back to dealer who topped it up...that was last week so will update review in time. Oh...and the electrics are terrible. So often my wife cannot hear me on the bluetooth phone and sometimes you cannot adjust the volume on the radio. Bit of a problem first thing in the morning when you had the music on max the night before. Whole journey getting a headache. My next car? Bentley continental as soon as warranty drops off!

I bought this car in July 2017 for £112,000. I was then told I had to spend another £40.00p on a data SIM card to make the live traffic system work! Really! When I came to insure the car, I was informed by my insurance company that factory fit Tracker was category 6 and they would only accept a category 5 system. Therefore, I had to pay more money and the hassle of having a cat 5 system fitted. The engine auto stop start function is abysmal, causing the car to rock like a dumper truck! It's utter garbage for a vehicle of this stature and expense. Recently a piece of bodywork on the roof suddenly decided to come loose from the car. The electrical and electronic system seem very questionable, too. The only good thing is that every day that passes is a day closer to getting rid of the most disappointing car I have ever had in my entire life!I have had 4 or 5 Range Rovers over the years and this is the worst by a country mile. The quality has nosedived over the 2014 model.

My car is currently 5 months and 14,000 miles old. I'm intending to drive around 33,000 miles a year for the next 3 1/2 years. If all goes well, I’ll keep it for another 4 years and take to over 250,000 miles. It's very comfortable, especially in the front, with a great view from the driver’s seat. Very nicely trimmed inside, with only a few bits lacking. The car isn’t as practical inside as it should be for a car this size. It’s a big boot, but the rear seat doesn’t fold anywhere near flat and there’s no useful additional stowage space in the boot. The split tailgate is wonderful though and if you’re a dog owner, there’s no going back to a single piece tailgate. Talking of size, this car is huge and worst of all, W—I—D—E!!, made worse still by doors that are near a foot thick; forget about parking in a multi-storey car park space, unless you are an anorexic contortionist, you’ve no chance of getting in or out of the car! The SDV8 is quick, seriously quick and it’s characterful. A complete joy to use! The handling is good enough, considering it’s size/weight/comfort/height. It’s had no cause to be booked into the dealer yet, other than to correct some damage that the dealer did prior to delivery. Nothing has fallen off, packed in, or otherwise given up. I’ve owned 5 other Land Rovers before and they’ve all been good to excellent, so this isn’t just dumb luck. Would I buy another? Despite a few shortcomings, I doubt I’d buy anything else - but I’ll be looking to wear this one out first!

Its a Range Rover, quiet, refined, well equipped and an absolute pleasure to drive. Have owned 3 discoveries a freelander and 1 range rover over the past 20 years and this is the best one so far. Expensive very complex and probably expensive to fix but worth it. You don't buy one of these if you are looking for cost effective motoring you buy one because no other car will do.

This is my 27th (yes, 27th!) Range Rover. I've owned them since 1979. My current one however, will be my last. Bad dealership experience from the outset and the car has been back to the workshop on five occasions (so far). In fairness, Range Rover has always got us home, but it's the 'niggly' things that cause the frustration. We've been locked in, locked out, suspension fully raised on it's own, brake failure, sunroof failure, air-con failure and wheel bearings replaced at 12,000 miles. Our current car is no different; Wishbone joints replaced at 9,500 miles, sat nav voice control inoperable, and so far at 28,000 miles, it's had three software upgrades. Dealerships are arrogant and they don't seem to care once you've driven off the forecourt. Next car for us will be a VW Touareg R-Line Tech. Same comfort levels and equipment as a RR, but with better reliability. Okay, it won't feel like a RR to drive, but I'll be a happier motorist!

This is the fifth Range Rover I have owned since 2006. The latest models (2014-2017) seem to be of a very poor build quality, with multiple rattles from all areas of the interior trim and airbag housing (this even occurs on rarely found well surfaced roads in the UK). I (foolishly) ordered a new Range Rover PHEV Autobiography last September. The car is with the dealer ready of delivery, but JLR will not release the vehicle to me because of a fault with the fuel tank sensor. What’s the point? Looks like I’ll be wandering off to another marque to source a well built vehicle.

The car is extremely quiet and rides like a limo. Passanger knee and headroom is the best in its class. A followed with the airy and light cabin. The cabin is well made (land rover tends to tighten screws a little bit more than its rival companies). The car is good fun to drive on a twisty road but tends to roll when driving on a race track only. One complain is running costs.

I knew this model had a good name but not so on economy. My mileage is minimal and this was the justification in purchasing same. I am however more than happy with this vehicle and would buy another, should i be able to find one in such condition. An easy 80-85 out of a 100!
