SEAT Leon X-PERIENCE announced
The new SEAT Leon X-PERIENCE gets four-wheel drive and raised suspension
SEAT has revealed a new addition to the Leon range called the SEAT Leon X-PERIENCE . The model is based on the Leon ST estate but gets four-wheel drive, raised suspension, and a more rugged look.
The X-PERIENCE may not be a full-blown off-roader, but its four-wheel-drive system gives it extra grip on slippery roads, while its raised ride height allows the car to tackle rough tracks. The SEAT also gets sophisticated rear suspension that should make it even more comfortable than the rest of the Leon range.
To mark its place at the top of the ST line-up, the model gets a unique interior with orange stitching, plus X-PERIENCE logos on the door openings and steering wheel.
SEAT will offer the car with a range of engines including a 2.0-litre diesel with 182bhp. The top-of-the-range model comes fitted as standard with SEAT’s excellent six-speed DSG automatic gearbox. It can get from 0-62mph in 7.1 seconds, has a top speed of 139mph, and returns up to 55.3mpg. CO2 emissions of 133g/km translate to an annual road tax bill of £130.
Buyers can also choose a 148bhp 2.0-litre diesel, which is fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox. It improves on economy slightly to return 57.6mpg, but costs the same to tax.
A 178bhp 1.8-litre engine is the only petrol option on offer. It gets the same DSG automatic gearbox as the range-topping diesel, returns 41.5mpg and emits 159g/km of CO2 for road tax of £180 every year.
Both the top-of-the-range diesel and the petrol models get SEAT’s Drive Profile system, which allows the driver to choose between three modes – Eco, Comfort and Sport – for the DSG gearbox, steering and throttle.
The SEAT X-PERIENCE gets the same safety features that got the standard Leon a five-star rating from Euro NCAP. Options include bright full LED headlamps, adaptive cruise control, autonomous braking, drowsiness detection and lane-keep assist, which gently steers the car in lane. Buyers can also opt for a powerful 135-watt SEAT sound system.
Prices have yet to be announced, but the X-PERIENCE will arrive in showrooms in the autumn. For reviews of the SEAT Leon ST and all other models in the SEAT range, visit the Carbuyer SEAT reviews page.
