Ford Mustang Mach-E given a gentle update with a heat pump at last
Ford’s debut electric SUV has been treated to a round of minor, but helpful, updates for 2025
- New styling package available
- Heat pump fitted as standard
- Coming spring 2025
Although the new Ford Capri and Explorer have taken the spotlight in recent months, the Ford Mustang Mach-E hasn’t been completely forgotten about as it’s been treated to a fresh round of updates for 2025. Customers now have more personalisation options to choose from, but perhaps more importantly, there’s now a more generous standard equipment list.
The new Mustang Mach-E has been revealed in North America, but Ford has confirmed the same updates will find their way to the UK in the spring next year. Until the entry-level Ford Explorer arrives, the Mustang Mach-E is still the most affordable electric car that Ford offers, although we expect its circa-£43k price tag to grow marginally with this update.
What’s changed for the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E?
The changes are hardly groundbreaking for this update, but that’s not to say that Mustang Mach-E customers won’t appreciate them. Visually, there are now a handful of new personalisation options, key of which is the ‘Sport Appearance Package’. This applies the sporty styling of the Mustang Mach-E GT to the less expensive Select and Premium models.
It brings a more aggressive front bumper design with more pronounced air ducts, along with a gloss black faux grille. The body cladding and 19-inch alloy wheels are also finished in gloss black to match. Inside, the Sport Appearance Package brings red stitching and a set of ‘sport pedals’.
If the sporty styling option isn’t for you, there are three new paint colours available for all Mustang Mach-E models, including Molten Magenta Metallic, Velocity Blue Metallic and Desert Sand. All cars also get a new steering-column-mounted gear selector, replacing the rotary item found on the centre console in order to free up more storage space, and Premium cars get ventilated seats.
The 2025 Mustang Mach-E now comes with a heat pump for the first time, which will be fitted as standard to all cars. This clever bit of kit is now fairly commonplace in EVs, providing a more efficient way to heat the cabin and the battery pack. Ford’s hands-free driving assistance system, Blue Cruise, has also been given an update. It can now perform automatic lane changes in certain scenarios without any input from the driver.
Performance and range figures haven’t changed, and the top-spec GT model can still be ordered with the optional ‘Rally’ package. This brings a host of styling changes and off-road tuned suspension, making it one of the coolest family cars on sale in our book.
There’s no official pricing for the 2025 Mustang Mach-E yet, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the current car’s £43,000 increased marginally.
