Shortly after buying the car, the engine stalls when cold and the resolution to this problem has yet to be found. Suspension issue also present when turning. I do not recommend the car and the brand because of the lack of support.

Worst car I've ever owned, car does not run smoothly it jumps and misses all the time, main dealer in Exeter cannot fix it and won't return my money, STAY CLEAR of both!! 3 months I've owned it, been in garage for over 2.5 months, taking them to court to get my money back, wish me luck!

Good design, but very unreliable. 3 months old been to garage twice once for faulty central locking, second time in six weeks for faulty starter motor seized rac called out said possible engine seized. no updates or support from nissan

Things I like about the Nissan Micra: Fuel economy is good. Drives very well & handles well. Cheap. Interior back-lighting is red, so it is easy on the eyes at night. 4 doors and spacious for a small car. There was not much to complain about so far except that the license plate "system" is stupid. First a Nissan lubricant employee attempted to attach the plate, then a Nissan mechanic tried and failed. The mechanic actually broke the bumper. Finally, a "master technician/mechanic" bolted the plate on. Silly.

This new Micra is such an excellent car to drive. It's exterior is modern and stylish and the interior feels upmarket for a small car. It handles very well and has a perky performance due to the turbo on the small 3 cylinder petrol engine.

Great looking, superb build quality, good refinement on motorway, firm but good ride quality, good fuel economy, very Nice to drive. Very well equipped, lots of safety gadgets. Funky coloured interior is optional but worth it. Bose sound system is superb. Vision parking cameras very clever. Down sides: It could do with 6 gears, as the 5 speeds are a bit too spread out. It misses out on the adjustable rear seat from the Note, which means you may get a large boot but it comes at the expense of rear legroom.

I downsized from a Nissan Qashqai, and it's the worst thing I've done. It's been so unreliable from the start. The engine ran like a bag of hammers. After a few times back to the dealer, they changed the battery and it's a lot better but it still has its moments. Noisy whiny engine, forever seems to be changing gears, clutch is too high and aggressive. Loads of creaks and rattles, I feel every lump and bump in the road. It's only done 23,000 miles and it's had a new drop link and driveshaft! Just got all that sorted and now I find a swimming pool in the spare wheel well...getting rid of it soon. Worst car I've owned.

I can't understand why the Nissan Micra has got such a high rating. A nice looking car but so many things I don't like about it! The door handle high up on the back doors makes for a huge blind spot when pulling out. I think it is dangerous. There were also noises under the bonnet when I first bought it from new and was told by Nissan it was because it only has three cylinders. The car stopped making the noise after 1,000 miles. Now it's making the noise again at 1,500 miles. The technical data in it seemed a really good thing at the time but not worth the money. It only works when conditions are ‘perfect', e.g. not too sunny, road markings are good etc. When you are driving along it is supposed to tell you the speed limit but I have found it gives the wrong limits most of the time. It is fine if I'm driving locally as I know the speed limits, but out of my area I could get it wrong. The trouble is with this technology, if it’s there you tend to believe it. My husband bought a new Jaguar Sportbrake and his technology is as bad as mine.

Lovely looking car, with a very willing 1.5D engine, but that's where the praise ends. Electric Mirrors have always had a mind of their own, but things started to get scary at the first MOT. With only 10,000 miles it failed as "unsafe to drive" due to suspension issues. 2000 miles later at the next MOT this now 4yr old car with 12,000 miles failed again with further suspension issues: "dangerous to drive". Both front springs broken and damage to a tyre.

If you could improve one thing, what would it be?

If it was "safe" to drive, that would be a start.
