Audi A5 Cabriolet convertible (2009-2017) - Interior & comfort
The Audi A5 Cabriolet offers an optional acoustic roof - an essential purchase
The high-quality materials, stylish yet functional design and solid build quality that we’ve come to expect from Audi are all present and correct in the A5 Cabriolet.
Audi A5 Cabriolet dashboard
Admittedly, the A5 is starting to age now and its interior doesn’t look as fresh as it once did – particularly next to that of the newer BMW 4 Series convertible – but the inside of this car is still very smart nonetheless.
The convertible A5 suffers from quite a lot of wind, road and tyre noise inside and it’s a shame that the special 'acoustic roof' (which dampens exterior noise) has to be ordered an optional extra on the less expensive models, because we think it’s pretty much essential. When the roof is folded down there's actually a surprising amount of buffeting from the wind for a car that costs as much as this one does.
Audi A5 Cabriolet equipment
The reasonably high starting price of the A5 does, however, mean it comes with plenty of kit as standard – even if you choose an SE model, which is the most basic of the three trim levels.
The SE comes with a long list of equipment, including 17-inch alloy wheels, heated leather seats, a 10-speaker stereo system with DAB digital radio, a 6.5-inch colour screen, parking assistance, three-zone climate control, a leather steering wheel and cruise control.
S line is the mid-range trim and it adds a further touch of sportiness to the already luxurious cabin, including S line-embossed leather sports seats, S line sill plates, a three-spoke S line steering wheel trimmed with black leather and matt-brushed aluminium inlays. You also get sat nav, bright xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, as well as the firmer, lower sports suspension.
The top-of-the-range trim level is S line Special Edition Plus. This adds to the S line’s tally with 19-inch alloy wheels, a Bang & Olufsen stereo, a head-level heating system for the front-seat occupants, some model-specific gloss-black body parts and a rear spoiler.
