MPG, running costs & CO2 Rating

4.5 out of 5

Because it’s based on the Mazda MX-5, the Fiat 124 Spider should have low running costs. Its 1.4-litre engine is quite economical and doesn’t need to be worked hard, meaning fuel consumption should be reasonable. A fixed-price service plan is available from Fiat, helping you to budget more easily.

Fiat 124 Spider MPG & CO2

The 1.4-litre petrol engine is the only option for the 124 Spider, and its 44.1mpg is good for a sports car. CO2 emissions of 148g/km are also reasonable for a car of this type, and the 124 Spider will cost you £140 a year in road tax. These figures are broadly similar to the Mazda MX-5, and better than even the most economical BMW Z4.

Insurance group

The entry-level 124 Spider is in group 25, while all others are rated as group 26. This is about on a par with the Mazda MX-5.

Warranty

The 124 Spider has a three-year/100,000-mile warranty like all new Fiats, with the first two years being provided by Fiat UK and the third year by your Fiat dealer.

Servicing

Service intervals for the Fiat 124 Spider are 9,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first. Servicing costs are likely to be relatively low, and a fixed-price servicing package means budgeting for maintenance should be easy. This 'Easy Care' service plan costs £399 for the car's first three years and includes all parts and labour as well.
