Peugeot 5008 MPV (2009-2017) - Reliability & safety

Peugeot has a notorious reputation for sub-par reliability. In recent years, the company has tried to remedy this and improved, but the whiff of poor build quality hasn’t quite gone away. The results from our 2016 Driver Power customer satisfaction survey show that the brand has made some improvements in recent years, but many of its models are still hampered by reliability issues. At least the 5008 is a safe car, which should provide some peace of mind for you and your family should the worst happen.

Reliability has long been a cause for concern with Peugeots and the 5008’s 137th place out of 200 cars in our 2016 Driver Power survey gives little reassurance in this area. Peugeot’s performance as a brand is also somewhat disappointing: after managing a 10th-place finish in the 2015 survey, the brand slipped to 17th place (out of 32 manufacturers) in our latest poll.

Safety

The 5008 is certainly safe, receiving the full five stars in independent Euro NCAP crash tests. All 5008 models are fitted with front, side and curtain airbags, traction control and stability management. There are three ISOFIX points in the second row of seats, while tyre-pressure sensors also make it on to the list of standard equipment. Only top-spec Allure trim has a Thatcham-approved anti-theft alarm as standard, though.
