Skoda Superb hatchback (2008-2015) - Reliability & safety
The Skoda Superb has very satisfied owners and a five-star safety rating
The Skoda Superb ownership experience is one of its strongest suits. Its owners are some of the most satisfied in Britain, as evidenced by a 91.7% satisfaction rating in our Driver Power customer survey.
Reliability
Skoda is one of the most beloved brands in Britain and the Superb is extremely highly rated by customers. Don't believe us? Just check out its performance in recent customer satisfaction surveys. In the Driver Power 2014 owner poll, the Superb finished third out of 150 cars. Drivers singled out its rock-solid reliability and build quality in particular – that's not bad considering the oldest models are getting on a bit these days.
Skoda's Driver Power performance in 2014 was the envy of the industry. The Superb was only beaten by its stablemates, the Skoda Citigo and Skoda Yeti – and even then only by the narrowest of margins. It's not surprising that Skoda reclaimed the top spot in the Driver Power manufacturer rankings, too.
Reliability and service from the Skoda dealer network is among the very best in the industry and quality inside the Superb is very good indeed.
Safety
The Superb also picked up a full five-star safety rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests. That's not unusual these days, but it should be remembered that the safety body tends to make its tests more stringent each year.
Nevertheless, the Superb scored an impressive 90% for adult occupant protection and 81% for child occupant protection. It fared less well for its protection of pedestrians in the event of a collision, but its 50% rating here is still ahead of most new cars.
The Superb comes with an array of safety equipment as standard, including seven airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, anti-lock brakes, traction control and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.
