Underpinning the new Skoda Superb is a platform called MQB. Without getting too complicated, this platform is the foundation for a whole family of cars from the VW Group, including the Volkswagen Golf, the Volkswagen Passat and even the Audi TT – it's that versatile.
For the reassurance of owners this means components and engines for the car are produced on a huge scale and there’s very little hardware unique to the Superb itself. This should instil a sense of confidence that you’re joining a society rather than a club and any problems you experience should be quickly solved.
The Skoda Superb came in 10th place out of the top 75 cars in our 2020 Driver Power owner satisfaction survey, but didn’t chart in the most recent 2022 edition. The Skoda Kodiaq, which shares several engines and parts with the Superb, did make an impressive appearance. It finished in fifth place overall with a very good score for reliability. As a brand, Skoda finished in 20th place overall, with 21.65% of owners reporting an issue in the first year of ownership.
Safety
This is the most technologically advanced Skoda ever built, and there is a vast array of in-built safety equipment to ensure that it’s also the safest. Clever driver support systems abound, such as blind-spot assist, which warns of vehicles you may not have seen before you change lanes. You can also have lane-keeping assistance, which automatically makes slight steering adjustments if you look to be straying towards the white lines. Seven standard airbags contributed towards a five-star Euro NCAP crash-test rating in 2015, with an 86% score for front and rear occupant protection.
