The SEAT Mii electric is very cheap to run, with good electric range
Low running costs are vital in the city car class and the SEAT Mii electric doesn’t disappoint here. Its eager yet efficient 61kW electric motor promises excellent range and no tailpipe emissions.
SEAT Mii range & charging
The Mii electric is now the only Mii you can buy and it comes with a 36.8kWh battery with a 61kW (82bhp) electric motor. It’s capable of 161 miles between charges under WLTP testing.
The Mii electric’s battery can be charged in one hour from a rapid charger, four hours from a wallbox, or 16 hours with a standard three-pin plug. Based on average electricity costs, it’ll cost around £5 to fully charge a Mii electric. As for the other cost savings, private buyers don’t pay any road tax at all and company-car drivers won’t have to pay Benefit-In-Kind (BiK) tax until the 2021-22 tax year.
Insurance group
The SEAT Mii electric is sold in one trim level, and thus has one insurance grouping - 12E. This will make it more expensive to insure than the old 1.0-litre petrol-powered Mii, which in its lowest trim level was in insurance group one. However the Mii electric is a very different ownership proposition altogether, and the savings in other running costs outweigh the insurance cost increases.
Warranty
Like all new SEATs, the Mii electric is covered by a three-year/60,000-mile warranty. This is the same as what you get with the Volkswagen e-up!, but not as comprehensive as either the Hyundai i10 or Toyota Aygo – both of which give you a five-year guarantee. However, you can pay to extend the Mii electric’s warranty if you wish to four years and 75,000 miles, or five years and 90,000 miles.
Servicing
Although it’s electric, you’ll still have to visit a dealer to service your Mii. SEAT offers a servicing plan for Mii electric models aged under one year. It lasts for the first two services and costs just under £400 (or 24 monthly payments of £17). You may even find servicing thrown in if you buy a Mii electric on a finance deal.
