New Citroen C5 Aircross Hybrid Black Edition launched
Citroen introduces range-topping trim level for its first plug-in hybrid
- Based on top-spec Shine Plus
- Same 34-mile electric range
- On sale now
The Citroen C5 Aircross Hybrid is now available in a Black Edition specification. Sitting at the top of the range, the new model has tinted styling elements and is only available as a plug-in hybrid. Prices start at £36,850, which is £1,000 more than the plug-in hybrid in Shine Plus specification. First deliveries are expected to begin next month.
To create the Black Edition, Citroen has painted the roof and door mirrors black, and included 19-inch alloy wheels finished in black. A panoramic sunroof is also standard. Adding these three options to the Shine Plus trim level would cost around £1,250, so you make a slight saving by choosing the Black Edition model.
A new ‘Urban Black’ interior trim is exclusive to the Black Edition. It includes seats trimmed in Alcantara suede. Citroen has also included its Highway Driver Assist function that combines adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance, which will make sure you stay a set distance from the car in front and don’t stray out of your lane.
Other standard features on the Shine Plus and Black Edition trims include LED headlights, a reversing camera, a powered tailgate, a digital instrument cluster and wireless phone charging. The Safety Plus Pack brings blind-spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking.
The C5 Aircross plug-in hybrid combines a 178bhp petrol engine and an 80kW electric motor. With a full battery, it offers up to 34 miles of electric range and can be charged at a home wallbox or public charger in under two hours.
