The I-Pace Black starts at £72,445 when based on the existing SE spec. The Black trim is also available based on the more luxurious HSE model and costs £76,695.
Styling and interior
The I-Pace Black is identifiable by a gloss black finish on the door mirrors, the grille and its surround, the side window surrounds and the badges. The car also gets a panoramic roof and privacy glass, while black 20-inch alloy wheels complete the look.
As you’d expect, the gloss black finish continues inside the cabin and complements Ebony leather sports seats and headlining. The I-Pace Black version that’s based on the top-spec HSE trim level gets the same styling upgrades mentioned above but packs more luxurious features as standard.
All Black models come equipped with features such as LED headlights, heated sports seats and a heated steering wheel, keyless operation and dual-zone climate control. They also get Jaguar’s 10-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment tech and a digital dash with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety features, meanwhile, include Autonomous Emergency Braking, lane-keep assist and a 360-degree camera.
The higher-spec HSE model, meanwhile, adds matrix LED headlights and a powered tailgate with gesture recognition. A Driver Assistance Package adds further safety systems, including adaptive cruise control and blind spot assist.
Powertrains and performance
The I-Pace Black is powered by the same electric powertrain as the standard SE and HSE models. This includes a 90kWh battery that sends power to a pair of electric motors that drive all four wheels. The system produces 395bhp and 696Nm of torque, giving the car a 0-60mph time of 4.5 seconds. As the I-Pace Black sits on larger wheels, Jaguar claims a range of 280 miles on a full charge, which is around 10 miles down on the official maximum figure.
Owners charging the I-Pace with a 7kW wallbox can achieve a full charge in just under 13 hours. However, when plugged into an 11kW wallbox, a charge takes just over 8.5 hours, which is ideal for overnight charging.
The I-Pace has 100kW rapid-charging capability, which means you can add 78 miles of range in just 15 minutes at a powerful public charger. A 50kW charger, meanwhile, takes half an hour to add the same range.
