Kia Ceed Sportswagon estate - Interior & comfort
Interior quality has improved markedly, sidelining some well-known competitors
Despite only being in its third outing, the Kia Ceed Sportswagon has an interior not far off the quality of rivals like the Volkswagen Golf Estate, which have a far longer lineage. Interior trim and materials are well chosen and finished, with inspiration taken from the sporty Kia Stinger. For the facelift, there's a new gear knob design and more varied upholstery themes to choose from.
Kia Ceed Sportswagon dashboard
Kia has opted for a minimalist horizontal dashboard split into an upper and lower area. The top span is dedicated to air vents and the 'floating' infotainment display, while the lower section has a handful of well-placed controls for the audio and heater systems. These are also titled towards the driver, making them easier to use on the move.
It's a cohesive design that some will prefer over the likes of the Vauxhall Astra, but there are a few of the very latest features missing, like the fully digital dashboard available in the Vauxhall and Volkswagen Golf Estate.
Equipment
Kia has built its reputation on offering impressive kit for the money, and while its models no longer undercut rivals quite as sharply. The entry-level ‘2’ grade is well stocked. It includes a rear-view camera, air-conditioning, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and LED rear lights. It also benefits from an eight-inch touchscreen, a DAB radio, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Mid-range ‘3’ models add a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, privacy glass, automatic wipers, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and rear parking sensors. There's also a range-topping GT-Line trim, which adds a sporty exterior makeover, a heated steering wheel and heated front seats.
Options
The options list was already minimal before supply shortages restricted the list even further. The only options worthy of note on ‘3’ models are paint colours and alloy wheel designs. Having said that, it’s such a well-equipped trim level, you don’t really need anything else.
