Mercedes-AMG A 45 review - Reliability & safety
The Mercedes-AMG A 45 S has a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating
While the Mercedes brand itself didn’t fare so well in the most recent 2024 Driver Power survey, finishing a so-so 25th place from 32 brands, the A-Class on which the A45 S is based finished a touch higher, in 27th place from 50 cars. That was just one place behind the BMW 1 Series in 26th. Around 26% of Mercedes owners reported a fault with their car within the first 12 months, and servicing was also criticised for being too expensive, with the brand dead last in this category.
The A-Class received a five-star rating from crash-test experts Euro NCAP. The A 45 S is likely to follow in the A 35's footsteps, with a wide range of active and passive safety systems fitted as standard. This can be augmented with an optional 'Driving Assistance' pack that adds features like adaptive cruise control, lane-change assist and active-blind spot assist to take the strain out of longer drives.
