New Genesis Electrified GV70 gets a redesign and bigger battery for 2025

The upmarket electric mid-size SUV also gets a huge 27-inch infotainment screen

The Genesis Electrified GV70 has been given a makeover for 2025, bringing some visual tweaks and a new battery in an effort to keep up with its electric mid-size SUV rivals. It follows the new Genesis GV60 revealed earlier this month, picking up the same giant 27-inch interior touchscreen from that car, too.

If you’re not already familiar with Genesis, the South Korean car maker sits as the premium brand above Hyundai – a bit like the relationship between Lexus and Toyota. The Electrified GV70 is its biggest electric SUV, but it’s also available with a petrol engine in the regular GV70. It’s currently not clear whether the petrol-powered version will be getting these updates, however.

What’s new for the 2025 Genesis Electrified GV70?

Genesis has given the Electrified GV70 a minor nip-and-tuck for this update, starting with the new front end. The big faux-grille has a new geometric pattern, while the slim horizontal headlights now feature ‘Micro Lens Array’ tech, which is said to improve lighting performance.

The bumper beneath is a bit different, too, with more pronounced C-shaped air intakes either side. The rear bumper is unchanged, but the indicators have been moved higher up into the main tail-light units to make them easier for other drivers to see. There’s also a new set of 20-inch wheels to choose, along with a new blue paint colour in gloss or matte.

The Electrified GV70’s cabin has been given a big overhaul, with a new dashboard, centre console and steering wheel. The key change is that giant 27-inch OLED touchscreen display, which replaces the separate driver and infotainment screens in the outgoing car. It’s the same panel found in the smaller GV60, stretching across the top of the dashboard.

Below, the climate controls have been moved to the centre console to make room for a big central air vent. We’re pleased to report that Genesis hasn’t ditched the various physical buttons and knobs from the old car – they’ve moved around a bit, but they all look to still be there. The steering wheel is new and has picked up an extra ‘boost’ button, too.

What about range and other technical changes?

There was only one electric motor setup in the outgoing Electrified GV70, and it’s been carried over to the update car. It uses dual motors – one at the front and one at the back – for a combined 483bhp. We expect its 4.2-second 0-62mph time to remain unchanged, but Genesis has added the ‘Virtual Gear Shift’ feature that first appeared in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. This lets the driver use steering wheel paddles to change up and down through simulated gears like you would in a petrol car, with a soundtrack played through the speakers to match.

The Electrified GV70 has also received a bigger battery, up from 77kWh to 84kWh. It’s the same upgrade that Genesis, Hyundai and Kia have rolled out across many of their EVs — including the new Ioniq 5 and EV6 – so a bump in range is to be expected. Genesis hasn’t confirmed a WLTP range figure yet, but we expect it to manage over 300 miles now, up from 283.

How much does the new Electrified GV70 cost?

Pricing hasn’t been confirmed for the new Electrified GV70 yet, but we’d expect a small rise over the outgoing car’s £65,100 starting price.
