Porsche Macan Electric review - Practicality & boot space

“There are more practical alternatives to the Porsche Macan Electric, and taller adults may find headroom tight”

The Porsche Macan Electric’s wheelbase is 86mm-longer than that of the outgoing combustion model, but that’s unfortunately not translated into the most spacious small SUV. Space for rear-seat passengers is only just adequate for taller adults, and if you go for a model with a panoramic roof, this will reduce headroom further.

Does the Porsche Macan Electric have a big boot?

The Porsche Macan Electric is a sleek-looking thing, but that sloping roofline does affect boot space somewhat, so despite the Macan’s on-paper figure, the more upright BMW iX3’s boot may be a little more usable. The Macan’s boot is a respectable size, though this differs depending on the model. While the Macan 4 boasts 540 litres, the Turbo’s boot capacity is reduced to just 480 litres. The seats fold in a 40:20:40 split, though, which helps to make it more versatile, and with the seats folded flat the Macan 4 can take up to 1,348 litres while the Turbo offers up 1,288 litres.

Is the Porsche Macan Electric a good tow car?

While it may seem at odds with Porsche’s upmarket luxurious image, the Macan Electric can still prove useful when it comes to towing. The Macan 4 can tow a braked trailer weight of up to 2,000kg, which is a very respectable figure. Specifying the deploying towbar system doesn’t come cheap, though – you can expect to pay just shy of £1,000 for this feature.
