Citroën C4 hatchback (2011-2018) - Interior & comfort

The interior of the Citroen C4 is sharply styled and it’s one of the most comfortable cars in its class

Instead of trying to make the Citroen C4 as much fun to drive as the Ford Focus, Citroen has instead aimed to make it ultra-comfortable. As a result, the hatchback is one of the most cosseting cars in its class. The Citroen also does an excellent job of keeping road, wind and road noise at bay, so that the interior is quiet even at high motorway speeds.

Getting comfortable behind the wheel is easy too, and all models come with a height-adjustable driver’s seat and a steering wheel that adjusts for both on and down as well as in and out. It isn’t so good farther back though, because rear legroom is pretty scant. Headroom is good though.

Citroen C4 dashboard

The Citroen C4 has a seriously stylish interior design. However, there are too many buttons, switches and scroll wheels on the steering wheel, which makes it too complex to use on the move.

Everything in the interior seems just about sturdy enough, but it feels nowhere near the Volkswagen Golf when it comes to quality or the feeling of sheer longevity.

Equipment

Citroen offers three trim levels, called Touch, Feel and Flair. Entry-level Touch gives you power-adjustable heated door mirrors, air-conditioning, hill-start assist, cruise control and height-adjustable front seats.

Feel adds 16-inch alloy wheels, a leather steering wheel and gearknob, stop-start with certain engines, DAB digital radio and Bluetooth phone connectivity.

Top-of-the-range Flair buyers enjoy front foglights, automatic lights and windscreen wipers, rear electric windows, rear parking sensors and a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
