Skoda Superb review – Reliability & safety
“Skoda has slipped in customer rankings, but safety is excellent and the Superb feels solidly built”
Skoda has traditionally performed strongly with customers, but it has slipped in the Driver Power customer satisfaction survey rankings in recent years. In the 2024 Driver Power brands survey, it finished 23rd out of 32 manufacturers, although that’s still ahead of Mercedes, Audi and Volkswagen. Around 24% of Skoda owners reported a fault within the first year, which is about average.
How safe is the Skoda Superb?
Euro NCAP awarded the Skoda Superb the full five stars in its 2024 safety rating, so you won’t find a family car much safer. It comes decked out with a suite of active and passive safety features, from autonomous emergency braking to a system to detect driver fatigue and recommend a break.
It’s worth mentioning that the Superb wasn’t actually crash tested by Euro NCAP – instead, the organisation tested the Superb’s mechanical twin, the Volkswagen Passat, and awarded both the same score.
What are the Skoda Superb service intervals?
Skoda sticks to fairly traditional servicing schedules, so it recommends routine maintenance every 12 months or 10,000 miles. The brand also offers servicing deals to help budget more easily and spread the cost.
What is the warranty on the Skoda Superb?
Skoda’s three-year/60,000-mile warranty used to look like the industry norm, but as more competitive cover has emerged from rival brands it appears somewhat stingy. Kia offers seven years, while Toyota’s warranty can last for up to a decade, so long as you meet its terms and conditions.
