The new Suzuki S-Cross compact SUV has been revealed and it features a new look, more standard equipment and a mild-hybrid powertrain. Due to go on sale in January 2022, the S-Cross will start at £24,999, which makes it more expensive than the slightly larger Nissan Qashqai.

The styling of the new Suzuki S-Cross is intended to give the car a more rugged appearance than its predecessor. The wheel arches are bolstered by squared-off black cladding, similar to that found on the Toyota RAV4. At the front, the new S-Cross has a large, black front grille, which is flanked by a pair of new LED headlights.
All models come with 17-inch alloy wheels, which vary in design depending on which of the two trim levels you choose: Motion and Ultra. The S-Cross will be available in five optional metallic paint finishes, with a solid white paint coming as standard.
The next-generation Suzuki S-Cross features a new sweeping dashboard design with a ‘floating’ infotainment system. The standard seven-inch touchscreen features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality and a rear view camera. Higher-spec Ultra models benefit from a larger nine-inch display with sat-nav and wireless smartphone connectivity.
Ultra specification cars also feature a large panoramic sunroof that extends over the rear seats. There’s also leather upholstery and a 360-degree camera system to aid visibility while maneuvering in tight spaces.
The new S-Cross is packed with plenty of safety tech including blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control, which maintains a specified distance from the car in front. All S-Cross models are equipped with rear cross traffic alert, which alerts the driver of incoming vehicles while reversing at low speeds.
Suzuki only offers the S-Cross with one powertrain: a 127bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that’s assisted by a 48V mild-hybrid system. It’s the same engine used in the Suzuki Vitara and manages official economy of 53.2mpg in the S-Cross.
Buyers will have the choice of either a manual or automatic transmission, with top-spec Ultra cars coming with four-wheel-drive. Four-wheel-drive models will have an ‘ALLGRIP’ drive select system that enables drivers to tweak the car’s settings for different terrain and conditions, such as off-road tracks or snowy roads.
