Vauxhall Frontera review - Boot space, practicality & dimensions

The Vauxhall Frontera is an impressive car when it comes to practicality for the price, especially when you consider it gets both hybrid and electric options. Be aware, however, that the Frontera Electric is unavailable with seven seats, while the hybrid models can be specified with the extra seats for £550.
We were impressed with the amount of headroom up front and in the back of the Frontera, though because it’s quite a narrow car, you might struggle to get three adults into the back comfortably for longer periods of time. It’s at least a light and airy cabin in the back and the seats are comfortable. The Frontera gets ISOFIX points on the outer rear seats, making it easier to fit a baby seat.
It’s interesting to note that there’s a difference between the floors of the hybrid and electric models, given the fact that the electric version houses its battery here. That means the floor is slightly higher on the Frontera Electric, so your knees come up higher when you’re sitting in this version.

Does the Vauxhall Frontera have a big boot?
The Vauxhall Frontera has a big boot and the good news is that the size isn’t negatively affected whether you go for the Hybrid or Electric model, though boot sizes of the seven-seaters are yet to be revealed. Most families will be well served by the 460 litres on offer, but a Dacia Duster does offer a little more, while the Jogger in five-seater specification offers significantly more. Useful touches include a moveable boot floor to make it level with the loading lip. Fold down the rear seats (in the five-seat version) and you can free up a useful 1,600 litres, should you need to transport larger items.

Is the Vauxhall Frontera a good tow car?
If you need to tow with the Vauxhall Frontera, you’d be much better off with one of the hybrid models. Both of those can tow a braked weight of up to 1,250kg – about the weight of a small trailer – while the Frontera Electric is only able to tow up to 350kg, which isn’t much at all and is only really useful for accessories like a bike carrier.
