Vauxhall Grandland review - Boot space, practicality & dimensions

“While it has a big boot and interior space is good, the Grandland is let down by limited footroom”

Vauxhall has tried to focus more on interior space for this generation of Vauxhall Grandland, and it shows. There’s lots of room for passengers with plenty of legroom and headroom up front despite the large centre console. The sense of space is improved thanks to the windscreen that’s set far ahead of the front occupants, too.

Rear passengers get a good amount of head and legroom, too, but there’s unfortunately not a lot of footroom given how the front seats are positioned ahead of them, despite the fact that the car’s wheelbase is 109mm longer than that of the old car.

Does the Vauxhall Grandland have a big boot?

The Vauxhall Grandland has been designed to have the same boot capacity whether you go for the mild-hybrid or the electric model. With 550 litres available, it’s larger than the boot of the outgoing model by a whole 36 litres, but some rivals offer more. Folding the rear seats down increases the load space to 1,645 litres, which is actually only three litres larger than the space offered in the last model when the seats were folded. It’s a shame there’s no ‘frunk’ like in many of its rivals, though, even if it was only big enough to keep its charging cable neatly organised.

Is the Vauxhall Grandland a good tow car?

The Vauxhall isn’t the most capable tow car, but you can probably tow a small trailer full of garden waste, for example, with a maximum braked towing weight of up to 1,100kg for the mild hybrid model, and 1,200kg for the electric version.
