MG HS review - Boot space, practicality & dimensions
“The MG HS is larger than before and much of that has resulted in a more spacious cabin”
The MG HS is wider by 14mm and longer by 200mm than the previous version was, with the wheelbase having been lengthened by 45mm in the pursuit of maximising interior space. As a result the MG is much larger than rivals of a comparable price, which is a major part of its appeal. There’s enough space for adults of six feet tall up front and in the back, with loads of headroom and footroom in the rear.
The doors open widely, which helps significantly with installing child seats and there are ISOFIX points in the back. There are lots of storage spaces dotted around the cabin, too, making the MG HS particularly versatile.

Does the MG HS have a big boot?
The MG HS has a much larger boot than the 463-litre one from the old car – while that car was quite far behind the competition, the new car boasts three litres more boot capacity than the best-selling Nissan Qashqai SUV. The Hyundai Tucson has much more space on offer if you go for the Hybrid with up to 616 litres, while the plug-in hybrid gets 558 litres and the mild-hybrid just 503 litres.
Fold the MG HS’s seats down and you free up 1,484 litres of space which will come in very handy if you need to transport much larger items. It’s still not quite enough to worry the Tucson, however, which can accommodate up to 1,795 litres with the seats down.
